Most elephants living in the Sanctuary are elephants who have been rescued from poachers in the jungles of Sri Lanka. You are invited to volunteer in the Elephant Sanctuary Pinnewale to live and work on the site, and duties include feeding, washing and cleaning up after the elephants. This exciting opportunity also offers volunteers a lot of time to interact with animals, experience life in Sri Lanka and meet like-minded people.
Teaching in an orphanage in Cambodia

Tiger Temple, Kanchanaburi
This stunning tiger sanctuary is located just west of Bangkok in Thailand. The Tiger Temple was established by the local abbot, after a local taxidermist, had a tiger cub with him. The taxidermist could not kill the puppy and as the abbot was known for his love of animals knew the taxidermist tiger cub would be neat. In the following years, a number of other puppies were taken to the abbot. The feeding and care of tigers is very expensive, so the abbot decided to open the temple grounds to the public. Tigers in the semi-domesticated Tiger Temple, so volunteers are responsible for guiding visitors as they interact with the tigers to make sure things go smoothly. Duties also include feeding the tigers and cleaning their cages.
